Frequently Asked Questions

I haven’t trained for years. Will I be okay?

Yes. You do not need to be fit before you start. We’ll begin with where you are now, not where you think you “should” be. The first goal is to help you feel comfortable, learn the basics and build consistency.

Find clear answers about how Longevity Fitness works, who it’s for, and what to expect before you get started.

Who is Longevity Fitness for?

Longevity Fitness is for people who want to get fitter, stronger and more confident, but don’t really feel comfortable in a normal gym. It’s especially suited to people in their 40s, 50s and beyond who may be new to training, returning after years away, or unsure where to start. You don’t need to already be fit to join.

Is this a normal gym?

No. Longevity Fitness is not an open gym where you’re left to figure everything out on your own. We run small group personal training sessions where you are coached through the workout, shown what to do, and supported throughout.

What is small group personal training?

Small group personal training sits between one-to-one personal training and normal fitness classes. You train in a small group, but still receive coaching, guidance, structure and support. Sessions are capped so you’re not lost in a crowd.

What if I have an old injury?

Sessions are kept small, with a maximum of 6 people per session. This allows us to coach properly, help with technique, and keep the environment relaxed and supportive.

I’m not a “gym person” — is this for me?

Yes. That’s exactly who this is built for.A lot of people we work with don’t see themselves as gym people. They may feel nervous, out of shape, unsure what to do, or worried they won’t keep up.The goal is to help you start at the right level and build confidence gradually.

Is this suitable for people over 40?

Yes. Longevity Fitness is designed with adults in their 40s, 50s and beyond in mind.

The focus is strength, confidence, mobility, fitness and long-term health — not smashing yourself with random workouts.

Will I be able to keep up?

You don’t need to “keep up” with anyone else.

The sessions are coached so exercises can be adjusted to your current ability. Everyone works at their own level within the structure of the session.

What if I have aches, pains or limitations?

We’ll talk through anything relevant during your consultation.

Where appropriate, exercises can be adapted around common aches, stiffness, old injuries or confidence issues. If something is more complex or medical, we may ask for GP, physio or consultant guidance before starting.

We are not a replacement for medical treatment or physiotherapy.

What happens in a consultation?

The consultation is a relaxed chat before you start.

We’ll go through:

  • your goals

  • your current fitness level

  • your training history

  • any aches, injuries or limitations

  • your confidence around exercise

  • what you want from the gym

  • whether Longevity Fitness feels like the right fit

There’s no pressure and you don’t need to train on the day.

Do I have to be weighed or measured?

No. We can track progress in different ways.

Some people want to track weight, measurements or body composition. Others prefer to focus on strength, fitness, confidence, energy, routine and how they feel.

We’ll agree what makes sense for you.

What kind of training do you do?

The main focus is strength training.

Sessions may include:

  • dumbbells

  • barbells

  • benches

  • squat racks

  • cable machines

  • SkiErgs

  • core work

  • mobility work

  • simple conditioning

The goal is to help you get stronger, fitter and more capable.

Are the workouts hard?

They are challenging, but they are not designed to destroy you.

You should leave feeling like you’ve trained properly, but not like you can’t move for a week.

The aim is progress, consistency and confidence — not punishment.

How often should I come?

Most members train 2–3 times per week.

The main membership is built around 3 coached sessions per week, which gives enough structure and consistency without taking over your life.

How much does it cost?

Memberships start from £189/month.

The right option depends on the level of support and number of sessions that suit you best. We’ll talk through this during your consultation.

Is there a contract?

There is no long-term contract where you’re locked in for months.

We’d rather you stay because you enjoy it, feel supported and are getting results.

What are founding members?

Founding members are the first people to join Longevity Fitness before/around opening.

As a thank you for being part of the beginning, founding members receive extra support and benefits, including 4 free personal training sessions to help them feel confident before moving into the group environment.

Do I need experience with weights?

No.

You’ll be shown what to do and coached through the movements. We start with the basics and build from there.

Will I be judged?

No.

Longevity Fitness is being built to be the opposite of that kind of gym environment.

No egos.
No shouting.
No intimidation.
No being left to figure things out alone.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes you can move in and trainers suitable for exercise.

You don’t need anything fancy.
